Grapes are known to contain flavonoids and saponins which are chemical compounds that can trigger hair growth, so they can be formulated into shampoo preparations. CMC Na is a thickener that can be used as an excipient in the manufacture of shampoo. The purpose of this study was to determine variations in the concentration of CMC Na as a thickening agent in shampoo preparations. Grapeseed oil extract was prepared by maceration followed by solvent evaporation and formulated into shampoo preparations containing 10% grapeseed oil and then used as a 10% concentration shampoo formulation with differences in CMC Na as a thickener F1 (1%), F2 (3%), F3 (5%). Evaluation includes organoleptic, homogeneous, pH, viscosity, foam height and preference tests. The results of this study indicate that the higher the concentration of CMC Na as a thickener, the higher the viscosity value and formula 1 is obtained as the best result that meets the requirements of good physical quality.
